What is Media in WordPress?
If you login to the WordPress admin, you will notice a Media tab on the sidebar. This tab is used to manage user uploads (images, audio, video, and other files). There are two screens under the Media tab. The first one is the library which lists all the files in the media library. Files can be added to the library and also can be deleted. The second screen is the Add New, using which users can upload new files. While writing a post or a page also, the user can upload media (images, videos, etc). None the less, a user can also upload files without attaching them to a specific post or page.
Many users have a complaint about the media library that it’s not well organized. The media files are arranged as per their addition (i.e year and month) to the /wp-content/uploads/ folder. To look through the media files you wish for, use the WordPress admin menu, but there is absolutely no way to arrange the media files in specific folders. There are plugins which allow systematic arrangement of media files by using tags.
WordPress media editor has some unfamiliar features that the users don’t know about. The prime most being the capability to edit the images directly from your WordPress admin area. There is an edit your screen option which give you an option for editing photos like cropping, scaling and resizing images directly from your WordPress admin area.
