YouTube Cards : A better alternative to YouTube Annotations

YouTube Cards : A better alternative to YouTube Annotations

YouTube annotations are one of the most effective feature you can use to promote and drive traffic to your other videos. They help in keeping your viewers hooked, driving traffic to your website, increase subscribers and do a lot more.

But you know the biggest disadvantage on them, they DON’T WORK ON MOBILE DEVICES.

In today’s mobile world, where 60% of the traffic is driven through mobile phones, it’s a big thumbs down.

But YouTube is smart enough, they know what users need and how to engage more visitors. So, on 16th March 2015, they launched YouTube Cards.

A similar feature like YouTube Annotations but in every sense better than it. And yes offcourse, it works on mobile devices.
YouTube Cards is in every sense an evolution of annotations. And YouTube also states that their goal is to replace annotations with cards.

Cards allow an extra layer of interaction to be added by the creator and they look beautiful along with the videos.

As of now, there are six types of cards:

  1. Channel cards
  2. Donation cards
  3. Fan funding
  4. Link cards
  5. Poll cards
  6. Video or playlist cards

If you want to know more about YouTube Cards and how you should use it effectively to increase your video views, then I have created a beautiful infographic to explain it all.
