The world of web design is growing day-by-day. It’s like the big bang explosion.
If you’re a web designer or just love to check out what’s new in the design world, you just can’t get all the information at one place. And yes, textbooks are also not enough these days.
This is where a web design blog comes into the picture. And not just one, there are plenty of them where you’ll find interesting information.
I have curated a list of 10 web design blogs which I follow. All these blogs have their niches and sometimes a broader one, but these are the ones you should definitely checkout.
Web Design Blogs to Follow in mid-2016
Note: The list is no particular order or ranking. It’s mainly according to my bookmarked list.
Web Designer Depot started back in 2010 and since then have been major source of information for web design. They update their blog daily and have recently updated the theme of the blog to cover even more content (which I personally like).
This blog was started by Canadian-based web designer Walter Apai and covers a wide range of categories surrounding web design: inspiration, CSS, HTML5, jQuery, Web Dev, Design Tutorials, news, and so much more.
The boy behind Speckyboy is Paul Andrew and one of my favorites. He started this blog back in 2007 but just as a personal portfolio website. People started liking his designs which gave him this idea of converting it into a blog or a magazine (that’s how they call it).
This blog published tutorials and tips covering web and mobile designs. They also cover UX design and graphic design but I really like there posts on icons. They’re just awesome.
Vandelay Design has been quiet an inspiration for me and to lot of web and graphic designer.
Their goal is to provide latest news and trends from around the world and also some inspiration to keep things moving forward. Their mission statement focuses on educating their readers which reflects on their blog content which is highly informative.
Smashing Magazine has been a great source of inspiration for web designers as well as web developers.
Started in the year 2006, by Vitaly Friedman and Sven Lennartz has since created quiet a buzz and is considered as one of the best site in its niche.
Part of their mission statement says that they focus more on quality rather than on quantity, which is completely true. I would rather say, they have both quantity as well as quality. Isn’t that the best combination?
This is a blog site that is written for the web designers by the web designers. Isn’t that great?
And because of this moto, they have been providing highly relevant and to-the-point information for quiet long time now. They also interview a lot of web designers which I feel gives lot of insights on how successful designers work and what should be taken from their experience.
Founded by Henry Jones, Web Design Ledger covers a categories, such as: web design, inspiration, UI, graphics, interviews, web development, reviews and CMS.
This is the blog to look out for if you are a graphic designer. Jacob Cass, a highly qualified graphic designer and a master logo designer manages this blog. He has quiet a lot of awards under his belt and has worked with clients like Disney and Nintendo.
Apart from the information about graphic designing, he also covers – branding, web design, print design, typography, advertising, and more.
Hongkiat is a really popular blog among web designers since its inception in 2007.
The found Hongkiat Lim has been managing the site really well with quality tips and techniques on web design and some random fun facts.
Creative Bloq is very informative and high volume web design blog. Here you’ll find 2-3 articles been posted every day by various authors.
Dan Oliver, the editor-in-chief of the Creative bloq does a great job in managing the content on the site.
If you’re looking for some tips in 3D, typography or VFX then this is the place to be at.
The main goal of this site is to showcase the best design to the world.
Here users vote for designs they like. This way it promotes and acknowledge the work of talented designers and developers.
Apart from this, they also have a blog with a lot of useful information to share.
Designer and blogger, Jeffery Zeldman started A List Apart in 1998. Yes, you heard me right, that’s 1998.
This blog has got the golden history of sharing useful information about web design, development and best practices and is still kicking it.
Personally, this blog earns my respect for being there for so long and helping a lot of designers and developer on the way.
Its not always easy to select a few among many but I am sure you will find these blog worth your time.
